“Sphere Still Life”; is a 24”x24” work begun in April and finished June 2026. The sphere has always intregued me for its geometrical simplicity and purity. Featuring it in this work as the focus let me approach with subtlety how the light might barely touch its surface as a three-dimensional object, while the background remains two-dimensional. The foreground’s translucency is an illusion to its suggested depth, and I like how the different dimensions work together. Creating a visual texture is important in setting the mood of this scene, and I worked with combinations of rectilinear and linear line work.
